THE 134th LOWESWATER SHOW

Rules and Regulations

That the Society be named the Loweswater and Brackenthwaite Agricultural Society.  That the object of the Society is to encourage the breeding of well-bred stock and improvement in the land and other matters pertaining to Agriculture.  The prizes, except where stated otherwise, to be open to all comers. 

That the Society shall consist of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and a Committee of Management, with power to add to their number.  Five to form a quorum, and that the Secretary and Treasurer shall be consider ex-officio members of the Committee.  Any member of the Committee not attending one meeting in the year, exclusive of Show Day, renders his/her election void.  All members of the Committee to be responsible to the Society for Subscriptions to the amount of £5.00 upwards.

All stock entered for the competition is not to be removed until after the Grand Parade.  All trophy winners are to participate in the Parade.

All stock shown to have been the property of Exhibitor, or the Executors of a person deceased, and in their possession at least three months previous to the day of the Show and, in all cases, must strictly comply with the rules of the Society. 

The Stewards in charge of various rings are responsible for their good management, and have all control over the exhibitors and their attendants.

The Judges or Committee reserve the power of withholding any prize should the animal or animals, in their opinion, not are of sufficient merit.  If only one entry in any premium the Prize money will be reduced one half.  Exhibitors to be notified three (3) days prior to the Show.

The Committee reserve the right to appoint other Judges in the case of illness or non-attendance.

Bulls to be rung and led to the Show.  Cattle must be provided with halters to tie them on the ground.  All cattle to be attested.

The Society will not be responsible for any loss or accident which may occur, but reserve the right, through their Managing Secretary, to correct any error or mistake which may arise.  Livestock exhibitors are solely responsible for the control of their animals which must remain in their allocated places until called.

 

Unless otherwise stated, ALL entries to be catalogued and no entries will be taken on the field.  ALL entries to be made on the proper forms to the Secretary, no later than Monday, 25th August, 2008. 

NO entries will be taken by phone and NO late entries will be accepted.

Should any Prize Animals or Lot, shown singly or in groups, be disqualified, the prize to go the next in merit.  Prize money payable not later than November 2008.

All protests to be made in writing to the Secretary within two (2) days after the Show, accompanied with a deposit of £10, which deposit shall be forfeited in the case the protest shall not be sustained and, if sustained, the defaulter will be held liable to the Society for the amount of deposit.  Any dispute or mistake that may arise shall be referred to the Executive Committee for consideration whose decision shall be final and without appeal.

The committee members appointed as Collectors in the several parishes or townships of the Society will be glad to receive Subscriptions and Support.  Well-wishers and Exhibitors may send their contributions direct to The Secretary, who will gladly acknowledge the same.

HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

The Committee of the Loweswater and Brackenthwaite Agricultural Society is fully committed to the prevention of accidents and to the limitations of their consequences to persons and the environment.  To achieve this objective, the show will manage its affairs through a Safety Health and Environmental Management System so as to ensure, so far as is reasonably practical that:

All Committee members, and those with delegated roles within the show, fully understand

     their role and responsibilities for the management of hazards.

Members with delegated roles are competent in those roles.

Processes are used to identify hazards and risks.

Procedures and instructions are in place for safe operation.

Plans are prepared, tested and reviewed for foreseeable problems.

The implementation of this policy is audited and reviewed

 

The Committee will ensure that this policy is understood, implemented and maintained such that all members and guests (where permitted) have full awareness of the polity.

All members and guest have a duty of care, that duty extends to self protection, protection of the general public, not to cause injury or suffering to farm animals and to safeguard the property o both eh show and also that of landowners.

Following changes in the way insurance companies manage liability claims, our insurers require the show to advise them immediately following incidents in which they may have an interest, particularly incidents involving personal injury.

In order to comply with these changes, any person who is involved in an incident must immediately report the circumstances to the Secretary.

Movement Card:

Stick your bar-code label in box marked “Holding”.

Tick the “Market Movement” box.       DO NOT TICK ON & OFF BOXES.

Enter the movement date.

Sign the card.

Tear card out of passport and post to BCMS.

Movement Summary:

Stick your bar-code label in box marked “Holding”.

Enter date in box marked “date of movement OFF or through market”.

Sign in the box below the date.

 

Animal moved on and off Showground on same day – Certificate of Registration:

Enter the movement date.

Tear card out of passport and post to BCMS.

 

Cattle Passports:

Cattle born or imported into GB before 1st July, 1996 have certificates of registration (COR or CHR3).

Animals registered between 1st July 1996 and 28th September 1998 have old-style (blue-green) passport (CPP1) – and certificate of CTS registration (COR or CHR3).

Animals registered after 28th September 1998 will have the chequebook-style passport CPP13

Calves must have their own passport CPP13

Animals with a notice of registration (CPP35) cannot be entered for or accepted at the show.

Please bring the following documents with you to the Show:

For each animal, we must have either The Chequebook-style passport (CPP13) OR a Certificate of Registration (either CHR3 or CPP1).

The Keeper must report the movement off the holding.

The Show Secretary must report the movements on and off the Showground.

The Keeper must report the movement back on to the holding.

Failure to comply will put subsidy payments at risk.
